This year Turin hosts the biennial congress of the International Cancer Screening Network (ICSN), organized by the CPO Piedmont and the Edo and Elvio Tempia Foundation of Biella, under the patronage of: Regione Piemonte, Città di Torino, AOU Città della Salute e della Scienza di Torino, Rete Oncologica Piemonte Valle d'Aosta. The appointment is at the Arsenale della Pace - SERMIG from 21 to 23 June.
In terms of screening, it is worth emphasizing how the regional program Prevenzione Serena, for breast, colorectal and cervical cancers, has recovered 100% of invitations and services compared to the pre-pandemic situation. Between 2021 and 2022, invitations to screenings came close to 2 million, thanks to the great commitment of the organizational units and all the operators involved in the programme.
Now Prevenzione Serena faces new challenges, including the customization of screening paths based on individual risk; in fact, various research projects are underway for testing personalized screening strategies: the MyPeBS study, funded by the European Union (EU), recruited about 5,000 women from Turin for the evaluation of a personalized screening protocol on various risk factors for breast cancer; the RISCC study, also funded by the EU, will develop a risk-based screening approach, taking into account medical history, human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination status and other relevant risk factors for cervical cancer ; finally, the BIOFIT study, funded by the Italian Association for Cancer Research (AIRC), intends to measure the cumulative level of faecal hemoglobin to identify those at high or very low risk of colorectal cancer and propose screening protocols more or less intensive. All these projects are conducted by the Epidemiology and Screening unit - Piedmont CPO of the AOU Città della Salute e della Scienza of Turin.

'In the present, the future' is the slogan of the Turin conference, a phrase more than ever suitable for a public health initiative such as screening, in continuous evolution and in continuous search for ever higher quality in all its aspects."
